This past Saturday, we had a wonderful opportunity to be a part of a photo shoot for the “Faces of Adoption” calendar that will help raise money for Lifeline Children’s Services and a family traveling to China soon to adopt their precious son. We will let you know when the calendar is complete if you would like to purchase one to help support adoption. The calendar will have many faces of adoption, both domestic and international.
Allison Lewis of Allison Lewis Photography (http://allisonlewisphotography.com/) took these beautiful pictures of Karlye on Saturday. She was wonderful!
Karlye decided to demonstrate her VERY attached personality on Saturday during the photo shoot. We are definitely thankful for this behavior, as we have been working diligently to get this type of response, but boy does this make some activities quite difficult. We thought that she would have no problem getting her picture made with other children, as she loves other kids…wrong! She began scaling my chest, refusing to even get down or look at the camera. If she agreed to get down and sit on a rock, as soon as someone would move, she began screaming to be picked up again. Allison did a wonderful job capturing Karlye in the midst of all of this! So, this is the reason that you will see part of my body in nearly all of the pictures!
Here you go…they are beautiful!

That is a GREAT thing! She is identifing you as her SAFE place. I will continue to lift you all up in this, but this is wonderful behavior progression.
ReplyDeleteWhile you guys were busy visiting with other adoptive parents after last week's Live Nativity walk-thru, we watched Karlye's interactions with the masses of other children and adults in the Fellowship Hall. Her reactions were perfect. She was drawn to the other kids, but came straight back to you (or us) when she noticed other adults watching her. Karlye has definitely got the attachment thing figured out!

Stacie and Nathan,
ReplyDeleteEven after these months, it is difficult to see Karlye in pictures like this without tears welling up. She is not only a precious addition to our family, but she is a beautiful child. The pictures above are maybe my new favorites. The first one posted here reminds me of the photo in China, I believe it was her first day with her new mom and dad, asleep on Stacie's shoulder. That WAS my favorite, now I have a new favorite. From the bottom of my heart, thank you both again for being open to God's will and for doing what ever it took to become the forever family for Karlye. She is precious in our sight too! Papa Steve
How beautiful! I can't believe we haven't met her yet! We miss you and love reading about you all, and seeing pictures of your beautiful blessing. We pray you have a very Merry CHRISTmas and pray to see you in the New year. Love you! God bless! ~The Perez Family
