Heading Home!

Our time here in China has come to a close, but our journey is just really getting started with our precious daughter Lucy!  I must say that this time, I am a bit sad to leave this beautiful country.  Don't get me wrong...I am ready to come home, but I have really enjoyed the time we have spent here this trip.  In some ways it has been more stressful than our last trip, but overall, I feel that it has been a very, very good trip and I have truly enjoyed each and every day!

My mom has been so incredibly helpful with Karlye and all the chores that come along with "living" in a hotel room for almost two weeks with two kids.  We have been so blessed to have her come along with us on this trip...and might I add that she has become an expert at taking Karlye to the squatty potty!  And I must confess that I did not make it through this trip without using a squatty potty...four squatty potty trips in one day!!  Thank you so much Nana!

The last few days have been filled with fun trips and adoption "business".  We had our consulate appointment yesterday (Monday) and everything went wonderful!  She is now officially our daughter and she will become a US citizen when we get to Chicago tomorrow (Wednesday).  We had a couple of shopping days, a trip to the zoo, a trip to Shamian Island, a river boat cruise, and we got Lucy's visa today!

Lets just say that Lucy is blossoming and coming out of her little shell.  She now wants to walk everywhere by herself and refuses to hold my hand.  She can throw quite the arching fit...it is pretty impressive.  She is now giggling and laughing when being tickled.  She and Karlye are beginning to play together and it is the cutest thing ever!  They played and played together today for about two hours non stop!  They were pouring sweat by the time they were finished playing.  Oh, and Lucy can do a forward roll...it is hysterical!  She has been slow to warm up, but it is full on now!  Lucy is beginning to eat some snacks and solid food, but just like Karlye, the bottle is quickly disappearing.  She loves to feed herself snacks!

Karlye is doing wonderful!  She has really taken to being a good big sister and is super thrilled that Lucy is beginning to play with her.  Karlye has done so well on this trip...she has been a real trooper!

We head out for a 3 hour van ride to the airport in Hong Kong at 5:00am.  Our flight leaves Hong Kong at 11:10am.  Please pray for the trip home.  It ought to be very interesting and certainly eventful!
