Karlye's care package is on it's way to China! Nathan and I had so much fun getting this together for her. Hopefully her caregivers will give her the fun things we sent her. We also sent a small gift for the other children in the orphanage, as well as a gift for her caregiver. We sent a disposable camera in hopes that they will take pictures over the next several months and return the camera to us on "Gotcha Day" (the day that we will finally hold Karyle in our arms and she will join our family forever). We were able to include a letter to Karlye and a letter to her caregiver. We also included a list of questions for the caregiver to answer and return to us on "Gotcha Day" as well.
The letters were a bit challenging to write as we were not allowed to include anything about our faith. That is a near impossible task, as God has had his hand in every detail of this journey and we wanted so badly to tell our daughter that He chose her to be a part of our family and that He would keep her safe in his arms until we can get there. So as we prayed through how we could write these letters, and here is what we were led to write...
Dear Karlye,
We are so proud to call you our daughter! Even though you are half way around the world, you already fill our hearts with so much joy and happiness. We fell in love with you the moment we laid our eyes on your beautiful picture, and we knew right away that you were made to be a part of our family. We anxiously await the day when we travel to China to hold you in our arms and have you as a part of our family forever. We are always looking at your beautiful pictures and not a minute goes by that you are not on our minds. We love you so much sweet girl!
As we anxiously wait to travel to China to hold you in our arms, we are spending this time preparing for your arrival. We have had so much fun decorating and preparing your room. Each time we walk into your room, we have thoughts of the day when you will be with us forever. We are also spending time learning about your country, city, and culture so that we can teach you about the place where you were born and spent the first year and a half of your life.
We know that you have had many transitions in the first year of your life, but we know that you are being loved and cared for by your caregivers until we can get there. We can’t wait for the day that we arrive in China to see your precious face and hold you in our arms forever. Until then, just know how much you are loved and thought about each and every day. We love you so much.
Love,
Momma and Daddy
Dear Karlye's Caregiver,
Thank you so much for loving and caring for our daughter until we can get there to hold her in our arms. We know that she has had many transitions in her short life, and we are glad that she has settled in at the orphanage and has someone like you to love her and meet her daily needs. We are thankful for your passion to love and care for the many children who do not have a mother or father or who are waiting on their mother and father to travel to China to pick them up. It gives us great comfort to know that our daughter has someone that loves her so much.
Please let our daughter know how much we love her and how we are anxiously waiting for our travel to China to hold her in our arms and make her a part of our family forever. We are so proud to call Karlye our daughter!
Thank you again for caring for our daughter.
Sincerely,
Stacie and Nathan
We may or may not know whether she receives the items in her care package, but is was definitely worth a try. We had a blast putting it together!

What a beautiful letter to your daughter and full of the love you have for her! We keep praying that you will not have to wait to long to go and get Karlye and bring her home with you. What a beautiful day that will be and we cannot wait to meet her and spoil her rotten(as I did her mother)!! Love Renee and Al
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing this letter. It brought tears to my eyes, especially knowing that you long to tell her so much more- how much her Heavenly Father loves her too. What a fun care package too! We will pray that she receives it and that her caregivers will be blessed to see how much her parents already love and care for her!
ReplyDeleteLove it. The only thing, I would have got a bigger box and chanced shipping Nathan. Then if it worked then I would ship myself if I were you, Stacie. :) Love the letters too. Hoping you get another update soon.
