We are having a blast at home! Karlye is really doing well and her personality is showing more and more each day! She is a very happy child and seems to have a smile on her face for most of the day! We are having less meltdowns overall, which probably has to do with a better routine and being in a steady environment (HOME!). When she does have a meltdown, it is much shorter in length. I think we are all finally over the jet lag and feeling ourselves again.
Karlye is getting on a great schedule quickly, and for that we are thankful. She is doing wonderful with Nathan. She now actually reaches up and wants him to hold her. She is letting him do anything for her (feeding, changing clothes, changing diapers, bathing, etc...). What a huge and wonderful step! She has enjoyed evening walks in the jog stroller and definitely loves the swimming pool! She loves swinging in her swing on the back porch, despite the blazing temperatures. She is sleeping in her crib, as she prefers to be stretched out and roll/kick freely throughout the night. Nathan and I made it through several kicks and head buts when we had her in the bed with us if she was not sleeping well. We have the bruises to prove it! She is sleeping about 10-12 hours at night and taking about a 2 1/2-3 hour nap in the afternoon. She is liking her car seat now. We have run a few errands over the last couple of days, and she has done wonderful, both in the car seat and in the stroller!
We have our appointment with the UAB International Adoption Clinic tomorrow morning at 9:00am. We will be seen by the doctor, social worker, and developmental therapist. Please say a prayer that Karlye is not too petrified of this environment!
Enjoy the pictures!

I knew she and Ryan would be fast friends :) Praying for an easy time at the Dr. this morning. I love to see you just enjoying life with your daughter in these photos!
ReplyDeleteLove, love, love this update. You are home, at last! :)
ReplyDeleteWhat great photos! She is adjusting so well and is such a lovely little girl. It is amazing how well she is relating to everyone else, but on the same note, not really considering her wonderful and loving parents. What a wonderful plan God had to match you and Karlye. One less orphan in China and one beautiful addition and child of God living in Birmingham with the greatest parents she could have ever dreamed of having. And I am not at all biased. Love to all you you and lots of hugs and kisses!!! Aunt NeNe. btw loved the swimsuit on her!!
