U.S. Consulate Appointment And Pearl River Cruise!

We started off the morning at the U.S. consulate submitting the required paperwork and repeating an oath for Karlye to become a U.S. citizen!  What a wonderful step!  We will get her passport back tomorrow with a visa stamp to come to the United States!  We will also get an envelope to hand to immigration in Detroit.  Sadly, we do not have any pictures from the U.S. consulate appointment.  You were not allowed any cameras and had to bring a clear Ziploc bag with the necessary items for your child.  Of course we had to walk through security before entering.  We saw many families at the consulate from the United States and we all repeated the oath together.  It was a really neat experience.

We then headed back to the hotel for Karlye (and us) to take a nap.  We enjoyed the pool again today!  Karlye was a little more daring today, allowing us to get in a little deeper with her.  She seems to absolutely love the water!  By the way, Karlye is loving her left thumb more and more each day.  Nathan keeps asking me if I feel the drool running down my arm as she sucks on her thumb!

We then headed out for the Pearl River Cruise!  This was amazing!  You cannot even imagine the architecture and lights along this river.  We got to see everything in the daylight on the way out and in the dark on the way back to the dock.  To top it all off, neither one of us got sea sick!  What a miracle.

Nathan just finished bathing Karlye and is now trying to get her to sleep.  I can hear her giggling in the room, so I feel quite sure they are getting a little play time in as well!  Sweet moments!

We will head to the Guangzhou Zoo tomorrow and then wait for her visa in the afternoon!

  1. Cue "I'm Proud to Be an American" by Lee Greenwood! Yay Karlye, now you are officially ready to come home to the US! I can't get enough of this girl in pictures. I imagine it will be that and so much more when I see her in person.

  2. Sorry we've missed you guys the last couple of days! We went to the lake all weekend, but were sure glad to come back and see all of these pictures of Karlye, Mom and Dad. You guys all look great! We laughed and felt your pain about the poop story! That's when you know you are a parent - we are so proud of you both! We are counting the days until Friday!
